Prof. Magashi Auwal Ibrahim (TRCN, RANTP, etc)
The Director, Professor Magashi Auwal Ibrahim, holds a bachelor, degree in Agriculture, Masters Degree in Agriculture (plant molecular genetics) and Doctor of Philosophy in plant breeding and seed production from Kuban state Agricultural University, Krasnodar Russia 1989-1995 and Peoples Friendship University of Russia, Moscow 2000-2003 respectively. The Director first national assignment (i.e., NYSC) in Kogi State at Amuro Community secondary school 1995/96. In 1996 to 1997, he taught science subjects at Senior secondary School Dawakin Tofa, Kano state. He proceeded to Audu Bako College of Agriculture (ABCOA), Dambatta, Kano as a Head of Agric Technology Department from 1997 to 2005, where he contributed immensely conducting Research on the problem affecting introduction of non-traditional vegetable crops into Kano weather conditions.
The new Director, transferred his service to the Department of Crop Science under the Faculty of Agriculture and Agricultural Technology, KUST Wudil, in 2005. He was the Head of Crop Science Department from 2005to 2009 where he pioneered on the development of the then nascent Department. He was furthermore elected as the Dean of the faculty for a period of two terms 2010-2014. then Dean, School of Postgraduate Studies and Director, Division of Agricultural Research and Colleges.
He is a member of several professional National and International organizations, including Russian academy of non-traditional and rare plants. A registered professional teacher with Teachers Registration Council of Nigeria (TRCN). He holds various administrative responsibility and community services, tree times’ member of the University Council representing University Senate. An active ASUU member KUST branch, and currently the University Chief Imam.
His primary research interests are in genetics and crop improvement. He authored books in agricultural botany used by Agricultural students in National Open University of Nigeria, Field Practical and laboratory manual for Diploma student in agriculture. He published many journal articles in the area of his research interest, attended many national and International conferences and presented academic research papers at Antalya-Turkey 2014 and at Bali- Indonesia 2015 conferences were adjudged as the best papers. He has been the Editor in chief of Techno science Africana journal, since 2007, an editorial member of many National publications.
